  • Nov 8, 2008 - Jon James from 92 Moose visit's Rollie's in Belfast

Last Saturday I was cruising around as I often do and I drove, alone, to Belfast.  My goal was to find a new place to eat (just for the adventure).  In the heart of downtown, in amongst other storefronts, was Rollie's Bar And Grill.  Perfect, I thought.

Upon entering, I knew I had discovered a hidden treasure...one the locals, I was sure, called home.  Rustic, friendly and cozy best describes it.  Very "homey," if you will.

I ordered a beverage and the "Rollie's Cheeseburger" with hand cut fries.  Wow!  It was a bit of a wait but, even by myself, I wasn't bored.  I used my time to savor the surroundings and listen to the ambeient conversation.  Everybody, it seems, knew each other.  When someone came in, it was like all of the patrons who were there greeted them like family.  I felt a little out of place....but in a good way.  Like I was a welcome visitor....or a proverbial "fly on the wall."

My burger and fries came with a smile and sorry for the wait.  I was grateful but could have cared less.  I was in no hurry.

While quietly observing the clientele, I noticed some of the regulars (I assume they were regulars) had their own mug hanging from the ceiling.  Cool.  I want one.  How do I get it?

By the way, the burger was huge (a half pound) and delicious!!!  The fries were magnifico!  I can't wait to go back.  Ahh, the simple things in life....that's all I need :o)
